Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum – Eyes of a Naturalist Contest Exhibition

The ‘Eyes of a Naturalist’ Contest Exhibition by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM), National University of Singapore, is now at the Science Centre Singapore from 8 March to October 2024!

The LKCNHM held its first photography and illustration contest titled ‘Eyes of a Naturalist’ from July to October 2023. Contestants were tasked to submit either a photograph or an illustration which reflects the work of a known naturalist—past or present, local or overseas. A naturalist is someone who observes, studies, and records the natural environment.

Selected from 81 entries across two categories, these 12 winning entries capture and illustrate the natural world in ways that reflect the work of known naturalists and advocate for the beauty of biodiversity. All entries were prepared in Singapore and within the contest duration and are accompanied by a write-up which describes the entry and shares information about the naturalist.

After a month-long exhibition at the LKCNHM gallery, the exhibition has extended to Singapore Science Centre, alongside the ongoing ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition by the Natural History Museum, London! Come and immerse yourself in the world of storytelling through photography and art, and celebrate the works of naturalists who inspired these stunning entries!
