Title: Quantum Materials for Quantum Technologies Speaker: Dr Lau Chit Siong Aaron (Principal Scientist I , Pillar Director, Quantum Devices & Electronics, A*STAR Quantum Innovation Centre , Adjunct Assistant Professor, SUTD ) Synopsis: Quantum computers are transformative technologies with disruptive applications in many fields, including finance, logistics, aerospace, agriculture, medicines, communications, and simulations. To get to a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer capable of such behemoth tasks, radical solutions are needed to address the challenges of quantum computers today, mainly in the area of quality and quantity. Current versions are mainly based on well-known material systems such as superconducting circuits and silicon, but emerging quantum materials with intrinsic quantum phenomena may present intriguing opportunities.
