Science Centre Singapore and its group of attractions will remain closed until further notice.

The Food Science & Technology Applied Learning Programme covers introduction to food science, food chemistry (molecular gastronomy), food microbiology, sensory science, food analysis, food preservation and food processing. Sounds like a great deal to learn but it’s going to be fun and lots of joy experimenting in class.

In STEM Inc, we always look at how engineering and technology can come into play with science. For instance, students may design temperature or salinity sensor, digital timer and smoke detector. The making of these gadgets requires some engineering and product design skills, as well as the application of an electronic microcontroller such as the Arduino. In addition, a typical “build a device” project will also include LED light and buzzer.

Tea-Brewer

An automated tea brewer integrating science, engineering design, electronics and programming in creating solution.

One example is the making of an automated tea brewer. Depending on how it was programmed, this device resemble the “fishing” motion lifting the tea bag up and down various times for a specific duration. The LED light indicator and buzzing sound shall then remind users that the tea is ready to be served.
