Please note that the Science Centre exhibitions will be closed on all Mondays except school and public holidays. Lab lessons for schools will continue as per normal on closure days. We thank you for your understanding.

We use sound for numerous purposes such as to communicate with people, for entertainment (music and movies) and even as a second form of sight. In physics, sound is an excellent model for introducing wave phenomena in general.
In this workshop, students will use a loudspeaker, a microphone, and an oscilloscope to measure the time it takes sound to travel for a given distance, and accurately determine the speed of sound. They will also be able to observe the phenomenon of sound reflection (echos).
