![]() ![]() Primary Science Learning Experience PS–53 Arch Bridge ![]() TRY THIS Assemble the 5 colour blocks to build the arch bridge. Hold the handrail and walk across it. Stand on each block to test if it is stable. Why? Why not? WHAT IS HAPPENING All blocks of the arch bridge share a compressing load when you walk/stand on them. This means that all the pieces are being squeezed against one another. The supporting ends or anchors must be very stable and resist the forces pushing vertically on them and the forces pushing them apart. Do the backbones of "pack" animals suffer the same loading? |
