WHAT IS HAPPENING
The pangolin or scaly anteater is a mammal with protective overlapping scales that cover its back and most of its long prehensile tail and short legs. The scales are made of the same substances that form into horns. Using its claws to dig up anthills, termite mounds and other insects, the pangolin is a toothless night feeder with a sticky long tongue. It curls up into a ball when threatened. It can also lash out with its tail or spray urine at predators. Its lifespan is ~20 years. There are 7 species of pangolins in the forests and grasslands of Africa and Southeast Asia. It is food for some people, and also used in Chinese medicine. It is a CITES-protected animal and cannot be imported or exported.
