![]() ![]() Primary Science Learning Experience PS–18 Volumes ![]() TRY THIS Turn the cylinders over one at a time. Note how their contents fill up the lower volume and shape. WHAT IS HAPPENING Matter occupies space: it has volume. Liquids - as represented by the silica gel crystals - fill the shape of the space into which it is poured. But the amount of liquid is the same from one shape to the other. Although the shapes are different, the total amount of space occupied in the different shapes is the same. The connected volumes also show the proportionate relation between the volumes of these shapes. |
