![]() ![]() Primary Science Learning Experience PS–12 Material Property – Transparency ![]() TRY THIS Turn the wheel until you see the light through a sample. Can the light source (bulb) be seen clearly? Try the other samples. WHAT IS HAPPENING A material is transparent when the bulb can be seen clearly through it. eg: glass display cases, certain window materials, spectacles. A material is opaque when no light can pass through it. A material is translucent when some light passes through. eg: frosted glass, stained glass. The light that passes through a translucent material is diffused or scattered by the material so objects on the other side cannot be seen clearly. |
