![]() ![]() Primary Science Learning Experience PS–02 States of Matter ![]() TRY THIS What can you see around the heating and cooling coils? Gently touch the glass at different places. Does the barrier between the heating and cooling coils cause the water to circulate? Where do the water droplets on some inside or outside surfaces come from? WHAT IS HAPPENING Matter exists in 3 states or phases - solid, liquid, gas - but usually not all at the same time and place. Ice forms around the cooling coil. Why is it difficult to see the ice? Water vaporises off the surface over the heating coil, and then condenses back to liquid on the cooler grating (under the cover) and drips back into the tank. The barrier separates the warm from the cold water and allows passage near the top and bottom only. This should generate a water circulation. |
