Defending Science Educational Programmes

Defending Science Exhibition: Open from 30 July 2013

Exhibition Description

The Defending Science Exhibition is Singapore’s largest defence science exhibition. This exhibition uncovers the amazing science behind many defence related innovations, and provides a glimpse of the many game changing solutions on the battlefield. It is jointly organised by DSO National Laboratories (DSO) and Science Centre Singapore (SCS).

The exhibition is laid out into 4 key areas: Armour Protection, Science of Flight, Stealth and Surveillance. It is an interactive, thought-provoking and fun learning experience. The intent is to raise awareness of defence science and technology among young Singaporeans. Students will explore defence applications exhibits and learn the importance of the fundamental scientific principles underlying these applications.

* To enhance the educational experience of the exhibition, it is strongly recommended that the exhibition is accompanied by one of our education programmes below:

Biomimicry in Defence: 'Lessons from Nature'
Description Biomimicry is the practice of developing sustainable human technologies inspired by nature. Biomimicry is the science and art of imitating Nature's best biological ideas to solve human problems. It is amazing to know how much we can learn from animals and plants around us.  Through this hands-on workshop, students will further appreciate these wonderful gifts from nature and its applications in military. Who knows you might be inspired by the marvelous designs and come up with some breakthrough discoveries!
