Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) 2006

All participants are required to submit the following documents by 14 January 2006

  • 4 copies of project reports
  • Pre-experimental forms
    (Note: Forms 1, 1A and 1B are compulsory for all projects)
  • SSEF entry form (277Kb) and/or A*TS entry form (368Kb)

The Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) is a national competition organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Singapore Science Centre (SSC), which encourages Singapore students to engage in research. Outstanding entries will represent Singapore in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in America.

Notes:

  1. Projects requiring special approvals (see instructions below) need to be approved before commencement of the research.
  2. Projects without online registration (deadline 1 Dec 05) will not be considered for the fair.
  3. Instructions for submitting an entry can be found here (228Kb).
    Note: For Bibliography, you are required to list at least 5 major references (e.g., science journal articles, books, internet sites) for your project.
  4. Submit project report (4 copies) by 14 January 2006 to the Singapore Science Centre along with a completed SSEF entry form and the necessary forms.
    (If you are submitting a team project for SSEF and individually for A*TS, you will need to fill in a SSEF entry form (277Kb) for your team, and a A*TS entry form (368Kb) for yourself.)
  5. Here are the forms to be submitted with your project:

    Checklist for Adult Sponsor/ Safety Assessment Form (1) (43Kb) Required for all projects!
    Research Plan Attachment (72Kb) and Research Plan (1A) - Individual Project (72Kb) Required for all individual projects!
    Research Plan Attachment (72Kb) and Research Plan (1A) - Team Project (72Kb) Required for all team projects!
    Approval Form (1B) (18Kb) Required for all projects!
    Regulated Research Institutional/ Industrial Setting Form (1C) (28Kb) Required for projects that are conducted in a regulated research institution (e.g. universities, medical centres, A*Star research institutes, etc) or industrial setting
    Qualified Scientist Form (2) (64Kb) Required for projects that involve potentially hazardous biological agents, vertebrate animals, controlled substances and humans. To be signed prior the start of experimentation
    Designated Supervisor Form (3) (16Kb) Required for projects that use harzardous materials or devices or if a required Qualified Scientist is unable to supervise the experimentation
    Human Subjects Form (4) (33Kb) Required for all research that involves humans. IRB approval is needed before experimentation
    Vertebrate Animal Form (5A) (35Kb) Required for all research that involves vertebrate animals conducted in a Non-Regulated Research site. SRC approval is needed before experimentation
    Vertebrate Animal Form (5B) (37Kb) Required for all research that involves vertebrate animals conducted at a Regulated Research Institution. IACUC approval is needed before experimentation
    Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents Form (6A) (20Kb) Required for all research that involves microorganisms, rDNA and fresh tissue, blood and body fluids. SRC/IACUC/IBC/RAC approval is needed before experimentation
    Human and Vertebrate Animal Tissue Form (6B) (15Kb) Required for all projects using fresh tissue, primary cell cultures, blood, blood products and body fluids. All projects using any tissue listed above must also complete Form 6A. If the research involves living organisms, please ensure that proper human or animal forms are completed.
    Continuation Projects Form (7) (19Kb) Required for projects that are a continuation in the same field from a previous year (s)' project.
