Important Announcement!

A very big congratulations to the teams (see below) that are advancing to the televised round of the National Science Challenge 2017. Thank you to all teams who had participated in the Qualifying Round on 29 June 2017.


The National Science Challenge 2017

The National Science Challenge 2017 is the 14th in the series of this very exciting project. Since Jan 2002, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Singapore Science Centre have been organising a series of exciting science programmes on a search for the brightest young minds in Singapore. 

"The National Science Challenge", which was broadcasted from August through October 2016 was to spark an interest in science amongst students as well as members of public. The project is that of a televised science quiz series. The National Science Challenge is a fun and exciting science learning experience for both participants and the audience. This hour long game show merges both outdoor and indoor science challenges in a bid to promote science education and foster creativity.

Points to Note:

  • Schools can send a team of four Secondary 3 students (aged 15, born in 2002 for IP Schools).
  • Students must currently be in Secondary 3 or aged 15.
  • The Pre-Qualifying Round consists of 40 MCQ quiz on all aspects of Science, to be completed in 60 minutes.
  • 50% of the schools from the Pre-Qualifying Round will proceed to the next National Qualifying Round which is the demo round and it will be held on the afternoon of the same day.
  • If the team progresses to the televised rounds & Finals, all 4 members of the team must be available for filming at the studio and all other round and Imaging sessions, currently scheduled from July to September 2017.

The National Science Challenge 2016 had concluded most dramatically this year!

Here’s a recap of the milestones of this year’s exciting competition.

The Qualifying Round was successfully held at Biopolis where Secondary 3 students vie for the 16 spots in the televised rounds.

A highly competitive televised game show that is broadcasted on MediaCorp Channel 5, the NSC provides secondary three students a chance to put their skills and knowledge to the test during studio rounds and at on-site challenges hosted by A*STAR research institutes and other research organisations.
