FIRST® Tech Challenge Singapore 2011

 

 

FIRST Tech Challenge Singapore 2011 is a robotics competition for students aged 14 to 18. The competition is from the family of programs from FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a United States non-profit organisation promoting interest in teenagers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Teams up to 10 participants, together with mentors from the industries, work together to build a robot from LEGO MINDSTROMS and TETRIX by PITSCO parts to complete a task within a fixed time period. The robot must be able to run autonomously and be controlled by a gamepad during the game.

Furthermore, participants will be exposed to computer programs such as National Instruments LabVIEW, RobotC and PTC ProEngineer and Creo. Thus, allowing participants to:

  • Design, build, and program robots
  • Apply real-world math and science concepts
  • Develop problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills
  • Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments

Organised by Science Centre Singapore, co-organised by the Minstry of Education, Singapore and Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR), sponsored by National Instruments and collaborated with FIRST, FIRST Tech Challenge Singapore will give the participants an enjoyable learning journey and a memorable and rewarding experience.
