Pi (π) Day is a much celebrated day that pays tribute to the mathematical constant, Pi (or π), the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It is celebrated on Mar 14 (or 3/14) because Pi is approximately 3.141592. Mar 14 happens to be the birthday of renowned scientist Albert Einstein too.

Come join us at Science Centre Singapore in our double celebration of the “irrational number” and Albert Einstein’s birthday, and look out for the various Pi (π) Day activities in the galleries!

Pi (π) Day Activities

Pi is used in the calculation of circles circumference. Get your own πDetector and start measuring!

Puzzle π

Fractional representations of π can be useful for easy calculations. Get involved in this puzzle to discover how 22/7 is an approximation of π!

Cutting π

Pi is a mathematical constant which can be approximated by dividing the circumference of a circle with its diameter. Try this activity to see for yourself how Pi comes up every time!

π Search

Want to find out if "your" special number appeared in the π sequence? This special number could be your birthday, anniversary or any special day. Type in that sequence of numbers and find out where your sequence is positioned in π!

π Memory Game Challenge

The current world record for memorising the most number of post-digits of π is 70,000. How many digits of Pi can you memorise? Find it out by challenging yourself in our π Memory Game!

Einstein Photo Booth

Did you know that Einstein was born on this day (14 March) 137 years ago? Come join us at the Einstein Photo Booth and take home digital memories of yourself.
