National Chemistry Week
(28 May - 5 June 2011)
National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a bi-annual event organized by the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (SNIC), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science Centre Singapore and 19 other educational institutions. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of Chemistry as the central science by highlighting the application of Chemistry in our daily lives.
2011 also marks the International Year of Chemistry (IYC), and the theme for NCW 2011 is aligned with IYC as: Chemistry - Our Life, Our Future.
At the Science Centre, we celebrate NCW in our usual fun & engaging way. Focusing on Art in Chemistry, we have lined up a series of fun and educational activities ranging from the ArtChemist Show to Hands-on Workshops and the Chemistry Carnival.
Here are some programmes that are suitable for all ages.

No fishing game, but decoding the secret messages (with prizes to be won of course!). No Mary-go-Round, but stepping into the giant bubble. Do not forget our evergreen super cool tricks with liquid nitrogen, too. To celebrate Chemistry and Art, your creative mind wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to create art & craft pieces with the help of chemistry. Last but not least, let the colourful cotton candy complete this wonderful fun fair experience at Science Centre. |
