Maker Workshops

Maker workshops are great avenues where kids (and parents) can learn more about the power to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) and how STEAM gives our children the Power to Create. Learn about electronics, Engineering, Biology and much more through hands on, open ended exploration facilitated by passionate and enthusiastic mentors!”
 

Making with Art 
Date: 11 February 2017
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Target Audience: Families with children 6 and up 
Venue: Science Centre Singapore (Curie and Herschel Labs)
Synopsis: Think of the different ways in which you can make art - work with different mediums and even build machines that draw! 
Cost: $25 per child. Admission to Science Centre applies to accompanying parents.

Making with Science 
Date: 25 March 2017
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm
Target Audience: Families with children 6 and up 
Venue: Science Centre Singapore (Marquee)
Synopsis: Explore how tinkering in Science and making your own experiments can give you a better understanding of basic Science concepts like Chromatography, sound, vibrations, simple machines, light and geometry. Making Science is a set of five make and take activities that you can work on, together with your children. Please note that Science Centre admission applies to non members. AM session (10am to 1pm) PM session (2pm to 5pm)

Making Toys and Games
Date: 22 April 2017
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Target Audience: Families with children 6 and up
Venue: Science Centre Singapore (Curie and Herschel Labs)
Synopsis: While we often buy our toys, the fun usually happens when we make our own. From traditional toys to modern ones, making toys and games allows you to explore making your own toys, having fun tinkering with electronics, soldering woodworking and other maker skills.

Making with Light 
Date: 3 June 2017
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm
Target Audience: Families with children 6 and up
Venue: Science Centre Singapore (Curie and Herschel Labs)
Synopsis: Light is all around us and there are so many ways in which we can explore light as a way of making - think lenses, shadow puppets, solar panels, candle holders and other things that you can work with around light and get inspired by how much we depend on light.

Making Things Move 
Date: 21 October 2017

Target Audience: Families with children 6 and up

Synopsis: How can you make things move - levers, cams, electronics, hydraulics and more ways in which you can create things that move.

Maker Immersion Camp 2017 
Date: 27 November - 1 December 2017 
Time: 9.30am - 4.00pm
Target Audience: Ages 10 - 14 
Venue: Science Centre Singapore (Curie and Herschel Labs)
Synopsis: Here is a chance for students aged 10-14 to collaborate for Maker Camp 2017. 

Learn: Introduction to electronics, Arduino, Digital Fabrication, Tool usage, Wood working

Soft skills: Testing, tinkering, project design, teamwork, collaboration, Documentation

Maker Faire Singapore

Maker Faire Singapore
Date: 22 - 23 July 2017
Time: 10.00am - 6.00pm
Target Audience: All Ages
Venue: Science Centre Singapore
Synopsis: Join us in this celebration of the do-it-yourself culture, bringing in Makers of all ages to show what they are making, and share what they are learning.  Be inspired by the showcase of interesting, wacky and fun projects in science, art, craft, engineering and technology, and exchange ideas with their creators.  Find out about the latest happenings in the Maker scene at the talks, and learn how to make something at the many workshops at the Faire.  There’s something for everyone at this festival of discovery, play and creativity! 
Cost: $6.50 per participant
