FIRST® LEGO® League Singapore

 

FIRST® LEGO® League Singapore is a robotics program for 9 to 16 year olds, which is designed to get children excited about science and technology -- and teach them valuable employment and life skills. Teams, comprising up to five children are needed to program an autonomous robot (using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robot set) to score points on a thematic playing surface and create an innovative solution to a problem as part of their research project. These two elements - the Robot Game and Project - make up what we call our yearly Challenge.

Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL’s signature set of Core Values:

  • We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together.

By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

Organised by Science Centre Singapore, FLL Singapore 2011 is open to students from Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, and International Schools aged between 9 -16 (as on 1 January 2012). Students need to form teams of 3- 5 members to participate in this competition. FLL Singapore 2011 will be held in Science Centre Singapore on 10 and 11 February 2012. The Champion for each country will be given a chance to participate at the FIRST® LEGO® League World Festival, to be held in conjunction with the FIRST World Festival, 25-28 April 2012 in U.S.A.
