DIRECTOR, EXHIBITIONS

The potential candidate will assist the Senior Director (Projects & Exhibitions), in the implementation of the Centre’s exhibition programmes.

He/She will oversee the Exhibitions and Exhibits Maintenance Group to ensure smooth implementation and maintenance of permanent and temporary exhibitions at the Centre.  The incumbent will also be responsible for liaising with external parties and other departments in the Centre in the setting up of exhibitions as well as the maintenance of all exhibits in the Centre.

He/she has to also perform weekend duties (including public holidays) as and when required and other duties as directed.

The ideal candidate should possess a Degree in Science or its equivalent, preferably with 5 years of relevant working experience in Exhibitions Development and Setup; Exhibit Design and Construction or industrial experience in related field.  Good organizational and communication skills would be an advantage.

MANAGER, HR DEVELOPMENT

The candidate will manage the full spectrum of the Learning & Development (L&D) function for the Centre. This includes working closely with the management to ensure that policies, processes and programs are developed, implemented, communicated and constantly administered in compliance with organisational objectives and with relevant laws/regulations; managing the L&D budget to ensure that learning needs are met within budgetary constraints; conducting learning needs analysis and develop an annual Total Learning Plan that incorporates needs identified from learning needs and other methodologies; evaluating the effectiveness of L&D programs to identify areas of improved performance for future L&D plans; working with external providers to develop training content in line with the needs of the Centre; and providing reports to management identifying L&D utilisation and initiatives, as well as proposals for new L&D activity/projects. Other areas of scope include conducting HR Orientation and reviewing Corporate Orientation Programme for new staff; administering and reviewing in-house scholarship/sponsorship programme; conducting Organisation Climate Survey (OCS) and follow up on implementation of Action Plan once in three years; develop and conduct Staff Engagement Survey to gauge staff engagement level in the interim period where no OCS was to be conducted; and taking on ad-hoc projects and assignments to contribute to the betterment of the department and/or organisation.

The ideal candidate should possess a degree and/or a professional qualification in Human Resources or Learning & Development, and have considerable experience in Human Resource Development at a middle management level with minimum 5 years in managing the learning and development function within an organisation. He/she should possess a positive attitude, great drive and initiative to push the HR Development function to a strategic level.

ASSISTANT MANAGER / MANAGER, IT NETWORK, MIS

The candidate will strategise and manage the delivery of IT infrastructure solutions and services to meet business’s requirement. The candidate is responsible for the administration, maintenance and management of the IT infrastructure and network. He or she is to ensure that daily IT operational tasks are carried out. He/she should provide support and guidance for IT projects implementation, and to manage vendors and IT contracts to ensure contractual obligations are met and the successful delivery of cost-effective systems and services. Also to review service performance, customer feedback and develop relevant action plans to improve delivery of IT services.

The potential candidate should possess a Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent with minimum three years working experience in managerial capacity, and with strong technical knowledge in LAN, SAN, Firewall, Windows Server, Active Directory and Information Security. Additionally, the candidate should have strong IT consulting, project management and people management skills.

OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR, EXHIBITION GROUP

We are seeking a driven and creative individual to take on a supervisory role in the operation of an upcoming unique exhibition in Science Centre Singapore!

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and supervising a team of part-time staff, and coordinating their work schedules to ensure the smooth operation of the exhibition. The candidate will perform frontline services and handle visitors’ experience pertaining to information services, crowd control, service recovery, handling feedback, etc. He or she is also responsible for the updating and consolidating of reports for visitor statistics, and is the main liaison personnel with schools and organisations for enquiries and bookings.

Prior to the exhibition opening, the candidate will work closely with the Project Officer in recruit and train part-time staff for exhibition operations. To come up with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the part-time staff, as well as the running of the exhibition.  Also to develop content for the exhibition, including research and writing of script panels, pamphlets, handbooks, etc for exhibition, promotional and education purposes and plan and execution of conventions and other related events

The potential candidate should possess a diploma in any discipline, and has at least 2 years of relevant experience. He or she should have good writing skills, and strong leadership and project management skills, preferably with supervisory skills. An ideal candidate will be one with a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills, whom enjoys interacting with people of diverse ages (particularly seniors!) and backgrounds. He or she is expected to work on weekends and public holidays.

SALES OFFICER

We are looking for a Sales Officer to sell all Science Centre Singapore products to corporations, travel agents, schools (including all attractions such as Science Centre, Omni-Theatre, Butterflies Up-Close, temporary exhibitions).

The job scope includes and is not limited to the following: identity targeted markets, solicit for clients and initiate sales calls and visits. Develop & execute plan to build sales channel to meet sales targets & sales revenue. Manage corporate events and ensure that events and services are executed according to agreement.

The ideal candidate is preferred to have at least Degree in Marketing Business Administration or equivalent. This job requires a minimum of 3 years sales experience handling key/ corporate accounts with a proven track record in growing customer accounts & building business partnership. Excellent customer focus & communication skills (including bilingual in mother tongue) are important skills in this position.

TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL), EXHIBITION MAINTENANCE

As a technician, you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits in the Centre. You will be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical and mechanical faults that might arise with exhibits, in the Science Centre.

You must also carry out metal fabrication works and operate metal working machines such as, the lathe, vertical milling machine, stand drill and welding machine.

Requirements
Ideally, the candidate should possess at least a HIGHER NITEC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

He should also be proficient in the use of metal fabrication equipment in exhibit troubleshooting work and have at least 2 years of work experience in machining and mechanical assembly works.

Good knowledge of electrical and electronics systems would be an advantage.

Diploma holders will also be considered.

Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.

Ability to handle basic equipment and tools, like screw drivers and test pens will be very useful in carrying out the duties, and have a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things.

Value qualities such as, being professional, with initiative, passion and quality service in all aspects of interaction with both internal and external customers that will make this role even more enjoyable.

TECHNICIAN (MECHATRONICS OR ELECTRONICS), EXHIBITION MAINTENANCE

As a technician, you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits in the Centre. You will be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical and computer-related faults that might arise with exhibits, in the Science Centre.

Ideally, the candidate should possess at least a HIGHER NITEC in Mechatronics / Electronics or equivalent. He should also be proficient in the used of simple test equipment in exhibit troubleshooting work and have at least 2 years of work experience in maintaining and servicing electronic, electro-mechanical equipment.

Good knowledge of computer hardware and programming systems would be an advantage.

Diploma holders will also be considered.

Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.

Ability to handle basic equipment and tools, like screw drivers and test pens will be very useful in carrying out the duties, and have a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things.

SCIENCE EDUCATIOR, GALLERY PROGRAMMES

The Science Educator shall communicate science concepts clearly to the general public through shows, activities, tours, talks and science demonstrations in the galleries.  He/she shall research, develop, plan and promote new public programmes in the galleries (shows and demonstrations); craft teaching resources (lessons, demos, presentations, worksheets, etc.) for exhibitions; and facilitate science activities for workshops and promotional events and conduct outreach programmes.

Possess at least a good degree in Science (Life Sciences or Physical Sciences preferred) or its equivalent.

Background in theatre/drama/event management will be considered an asset. Strong ability to express clearly, in oral and written form the principles and applications of Science and Technology to both students and general public. Required to work on weekends and public holidays.

Good communication and presentation skills are essential.

TEMPORARY STAFF REQUIRED FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS

The Centre may require temporary manpower from time to time. You should be able to contribute to areas of administration or customer service.

You should possess at least GCE 'A' Level and speaks good English. You should have a cheerful disposition and enjoy working with people.

Specifically for customer service positions, you must be able to work on shift and all weekends and public holidays. Some front-line or customer service experience will be an advantage.
