DIRECTOR, EXHIBITIONS

The potential candidate will assist the Senior Director (Projects & Exhibitions), in the implementation of the Centre’s exhibition programmes.

He/She will oversee the Exhibitions and Exhibits Maintenance Group to ensure smooth implementation and maintenance of permanent and temporary exhibitions at the Centre.  The incumbent will also be responsible for liaising with external parties and other departments in the Centre in the setting up of exhibitions as well as the maintenance of all exhibits in the Centre.

He/she has to also perform weekend duties (including public holidays) as and when required and other duties as directed.

The ideal candidate should possess a Degree in Science or its equivalent, preferably with 5 years of relevant working experience in Exhibitions Development and Setup; Exhibit Design and Construction or industrial experience in related field.  Good organizational and communication skills would be an advantage.

MANAGER, HR DEVELOPMENT

The candidate will manage the full spectrum of the Learning & Development (L&D) function for the Centre. This includes working closely with the management to ensure that policies, processes and programs are developed, implemented, communicated and constantly administered in compliance with organisational objectives and with relevant laws/regulations; managing the L&D budget to ensure that learning needs are met within budgetary constraints; conducting learning needs analysis and develop an annual Total Learning Plan that incorporates needs identified from learning needs and other methodologies; evaluating the effectiveness of L&D programs to identify areas of improved performance for future L&D plans; working with external providers to develop training content in line with the needs of the Centre; and providing reports to management identifying L&D utilisation and initiatives, as well as proposals for new L&D activity/projects. Other areas of scope include conducting HR Orientation and reviewing Corporate Orientation Programme for new staff; administering and reviewing in-house scholarship/sponsorship programme; conducting Organisation Climate Survey (OCS) and follow up on implementation of Action Plan once in three years; develop and conduct Staff Engagement Survey to gauge staff engagement level in the interim period where no OCS was to be conducted; and taking on ad-hoc projects and assignments to contribute to the betterment of the department and/or organisation.

The ideal candidate should possess a degree and/or a professional qualification in Human Resources or Learning & Development, and have considerable experience in Human Resource Development at a middle management level with minimum 5 years in managing the learning and development function within an organisation. He/she should possess a positive attitude, great drive and initiative to push the HR Development function to a strategic level.

ASSISTANT MANAGER / MANAGER, IT NETWORK, MIS

The candidate will strategise and manage the delivery of IT infrastructure solutions and services to meet business’s requirement. The candidate is responsible for the administration, maintenance and management of the IT infrastructure and network. He or she is to ensure that daily IT operational tasks are carried out. He/she should provide support and guidance for IT projects implementation, and to manage vendors and IT contracts to ensure contractual obligations are met and the successful delivery of cost-effective systems and services. Also to review service performance, customer feedback and develop relevant action plans to improve delivery of IT services.

The potential candidate should possess a Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent with minimum three years working experience in managerial capacity, and with strong technical knowledge in LAN, SAN, Firewall, Windows Server, Active Directory and Information Security. Additionally, the candidate should have strong IT consulting, project management and people management skills.

EXHIBIT DESIGNER / ENGINEER, EXHIBITIONS

As an Exhibit Designer/Engineer, you will be responsible in interpreting science principles into exhibit concepts/presentations and developing material specifications for mechanical, electrical and electronic aspects of the exhibits and exhibit structures as well as to build and test the prototypes before manufacturing. In addition to planning work, you will be required to oversee fabrication and ensure that the work is carried out in conformance to specifications.

The officer will be required to prepare technical documents for Tender/Procurement exercises and conduct tender briefings for contractors. He/she will also be involved in the planning and the supervision of the fabrication of exhibits to ensure exhibits safety and risk assessment are taken into consideration while meeting project schedules. Also, he/she shall provide technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair major exhibit breakdowns as well as other duties directed to him/ her.

The ideal candidate should possess Degree in Engineering, Product Design or equivalent. You must have practised in similar field for a minimum of 3 years. Candidates with relevant experience in exhibit design and project management are preferred. Experience in the use of workshop machinery and Computer Aided manufacturing will be an advantage. The ability to use AutoCad, 3D Max and/or other design software will be another advantage. He/she should be willing to perform weekend duties including public holidays as and when required.

The candidate must be creative, be curious about the sciences and technology in general, and have a keen interest in exhibitions and design-related work. You will possess a strong technical skill and be able to think in three dimensions.

To perform well in a team environment, you must be able to communicate well, be a good team player, and show great enthusiasm with positive work attitude. You will need to be able to multi-task while working under pressure and independently.

EXHIBITION DESIGNER

The field of Exhibition Design is both exciting and challenging. As an Exhibition Designer, you will be responsible for translating basic science principles into exhibition concepts/presentations. The phases of work include conceptualisation to final design intent and implementation. In addition to planning work, you will be required to prepare technical documents for Tender/Procurement exercises and conduct tender briefings for contractors.

You will also be involved in the supervision of the fabrication and installations of exhibits to ensure that the work is carried out in conformance to specifications and safety and risk has been taken into consideration in the final build.

The ideal candidate should possess Degree in Exhibition / Graphic Design or equivalent. Candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience in exhibition design, project management are preferred. The ability to do sketches and knowledge to use AutoCad, 3D Max and/or other design software will be an added advantage.

The candidate must be creative, be curious about the sciences and technology in general, and have a keen interest in exhibitions and design-related work. You will possess a strong technical skill and be able to think in three dimensions.

To perform well in a team environment, you must be able to communicate well, be a good team player, and show great enthusiasm with positive work attitude. You will need to be able to multi-task while working under pressure and independently.

PROJECT OFFICER, EXHIBITIONS

As a Project Officer, you will be responsible for the planning and development of exhibitions and science education programmes, organising and conducting of science enrichment programmes for schools, workshops, specialised courses and promotional activities. You are required to prepare, review and update exhibit plans, treatments, and specifications for the exhibits. In addition, you will write and prepare articles, pamphlets, handbooks in connection with our exhibition, promotional and educational programmes.

The officer will be required to prepare technical documents for Tender/Procurement exercises and conduct tender briefings for contractors. He/she will also be involved in the planning and the supervision of the fabrication of exhibits to ensure exhibits safety and risk assessment are taken into consideration while meeting project schedules.

The ideal candidate should possess a Degree in Life Sciences (Honours) or its equivalent, preferably with post-graduate qualifications. Good knowledge of modern concepts in the Life Sciences would be an advantage. Ability to express clearly and in oral and written form the principles and applications of science and technology to both students and lay groups.

Candidates with relevant experience in the education, museum industry and project management are preferred. He/she has to perform weekend duties including public holidays as and when required.

The candidate must be creative, be curious about the sciences and technology in general, and have a keen interest in exhibitions and project management work. To perform well in a team environment, you must be able to communicate well, be a good team player, and show great enthusiasm with positive work attitude. You will need to be able to multi-task while working under pressure and independently.

SCIENCE EDUCATOR, LIFE SCIENCES

Communicate science concepts clearly to students and public. You will be required to conduct education programmes ranging from visitor interaction and science shows to enrichment classes, workshops and camps. You will also assist in the management of teaching facilities and be involved in other events organised by the Centre.

You should possess a Degree in Life Sciences (Zoology, Molecular Biology or Genetics) and have a strong interest in other areas of science and technology. You must be confident and dynamic, eager to share your knowledge and be able to interact with people of all levels. Good English is essential and previous teaching experience would be an added advantage. You must be able to work on weekends and public holidays.

TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL), EXHIBITION MAINTENANCE

As a technician, you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits in the Centre. You will be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical and mechanical faults that might arise with exhibits, in the Science Centre.

You must also carry out metal fabrication works and operate metal working machines such as, the lathe, vertical milling machine, stand drill and welding machine.


Ideally, the candidate should possess at least a HIGHER NITEC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

He should also be proficient in the use of metal fabrication equipment in exhibit troubleshooting work and have at least 2 years of work experience in machining and mechanical assembly works.

Good knowledge of electrical and electronics systems would be an advantage.

Diploma holders will also be considered.

Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.

Ability to handle basic equipment and tools, like screw drivers and test pens will be very useful in carrying out the duties, and have a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things.

Value qualities such as, being professional, with initiative, passion and quality service in all aspects of interaction with both internal and external customers that will make this role even more enjoyable.

TECHNICIAN (MECHATRONICS OR ELECTRONICS), EXHIBITION MAINTENANCE

As a technician, you will look after the maintenance and proper functioning of the exhibits in the Centre. You will be required to carry out periodic maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical and computer-related faults that might arise with exhibits, in the Science Centre.

Ideally, the candidate should possess at least a HIGHER NITEC in Mechatronics / Electronics or equivalent. He should also be proficient in the used of simple test equipment in exhibit troubleshooting work and have at least 2 years of work experience in maintaining and servicing electronic, electro-mechanical equipment.

Good knowledge of computer hardware and programming systems would be an advantage.

Diploma holders will also be considered.

Rotating 5-day work shifts is a requirement, while duties on weekends and public holidays will be scheduled as and when required.

Ability to handle basic equipment and tools, like screw drivers and test pens will be very useful in carrying out the duties, and have a strong interest in taking apart or fixing things.

TEMPORARY STAFF REQUIRED FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS

The Centre may require temporary manpower from time to time. You should be able to contribute to areas of administration or customer service.

You should possess at least GCE 'A' Level and speaks good English. You should have a cheerful disposition and enjoy working with people.

Specifically for customer service positions, you must be able to work on shift and all weekends and public holidays. Some front-line or customer service experience will be an advantage.
